021 | The Path To Becoming A Strong Confident Woman With Molly Galbraith

Welcome back to the Fitness Legitness podcast. Today, we have Molly Galbraith on the show with us. Molly has been a part of the fitness industry for 17 years, is the author of the book Strong Women Lift Each Other Up, and the co-founder of the company Girls Gone Strong, a movement dedicated to women’s empowerment and health (one of my ‘go-to’ platforms!).

In her epic book, she talks about topics like how to say no and how not to tie your worth to your appearance or other secondary factors. It discusses how women can understand who they are and who they want to become.

Today, we’re going to discuss the common barriers women face in their personal and professional lives, how to stop seeing other women as ‘competition,’ and what you can do to make a difference for other women. You’ll learn about how you can break through barriers and become a confident, take-no-shit version of yourself.

In the episode, we discuss how feelings like jealousy are normal but can be turned into a positive emotion. Learn how you can become confident and encourage women around you to do the same. Elevate your self-esteem by knowing how to re-train your brain, respond to feedback, and become more assertive.

Learn concepts like how to check whether your values match with others. Know how to set boundaries and normalize experiencing certain emotions. Learn how to be confident about your body image and overcome the scarcity mindset that holds you back from your goals.

It was physically painful how jealous I was of her, and it wasn’t that I didn’t want her to have those opportunities, I liked her, but I wanted them for myself. And so I talk about how challenging it was to have those feelings. And the goal is in the book, to not just talk about these things, but to give women tangible actionable things to they can do to overcome them

Highlights

(39:13): When you feel confident, know you’re enough, when you understand that your worth isn’t tied to the way that your body looks or how much money is in your bank account, how many followers you have on social media, it is so much easier to be that woman for other people.

(39:50): I truly believe that every action we take is in favour of who we want to be and the kind of world that we want to live in. Do I want to be in a world where we’re in competition with one another?

(47:13): One of the kindest things that you can do is to get as clear as you possibly can about the thing that you’re wanting from the other person. Communicate that as well as you can. Let them know what the commitment from them is and give them a time frame.
