When I first conceived the idea of this show I had a hit list of all the women I wanted to talk to. The women who inspire and motivate me on a daily basis.
Jen Sinkler was one of them.
I have been in the fitness industry a long time and it is an easy place for inauthentic people to find a platform. There is a ton of shite out there, and even shittier people in a position of power.
But then there are people like Jen. Authentic. Real. Smart. Amazing.
The kind of person that doesn’t just make a mark on the world, she comes and makes a huge fricken dent!
Who is Jen Sinkler
Jen is an eclectic fitness curator and connector. She makes fitness and all it’s various components easily digestable for the every day person. She spent over a decade as a fitness editor and editorial fitness director for Experience Life magazine, and now writes for a number of national magazines.
Together with her husband Dave they own The Movement Mineapolis Gym but have recently packed up house and moved to Philidelphia.
With numerous fitness qualifications under her belt and an edu-taining writing style Jen has been named one of Huffington Post’s “20 of the Best Fitness Experts Worth Following on Twitter,” one of Shape magazine’s “Top 30 Motivators of 2013,” and one of Greatist’s “15 Must-Read Trainers Rocking the Web in 2013” and “100 Most Influential People in Health and Fitness” for both 2014 and 2015.
To add to her impressive list of achievements Jen has represented USA in Rugby for both the 15’s and the 7’s and has a rare talent for animal calling (seriously).
Jen also has a penchant for fanny packs (australasian translation = bumbag), lipgloss, Thinxs Panties, Vaginas (not necessarily in that order) and is unapologetically strong!
In this episode we chat about:
– The definition of strength and how weight training promotes both inner and outer strength
– Playing by your own rules
– The rise of the feminine power
– Opening up the conversation about women’s bodies – vaginas and periods and being totally ok with it
– The importance of cultivating a growth mindset
– Owning and loving your weird
